• Australian War Memorial - Charles Bean, Australia's first official war correspondent, was determined that the sacrifice of Australian soldiers should not be forgotten. He envisioned a national war museum and resolved to build what is now the Australian War Memorial.

• HMAS Nirimba - In September 1955, preparations began to recommission HMAS Nirimba as the RAN Apprentice Training Establishment (RANATE) for Naval Apprentice training. January 1969 intake.
